TrackHound Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how TrackHound ("App") handles information when you use the app on Apple platforms.
1. Data We Process
- Location data: with your permission, your device location is used to display your position on the map and to plan routes from your current location. Location is processed on-device and is not transmitted to us or to third parties.
- Contacts: if you choose to pick a destination from Contacts, the App reads the selected contact's first postal address and converts it to coordinates via Apple's geocoding service. The App does not read or store other contact data.
- Map tiles and routing data: map style tiles are fetched from OpenFreeMap (tiles.openfreemap.org). Routing is performed entirely on your device using locally stored map data; no route requests are sent to our servers.
- Routes and waypoints: routes you create, waypoints you set, and route preferences (vehicle, style) are stored locally on your device. They are not synced to us or to third parties.
- Downloaded regions: regional map and routing data you choose to download are stored locally on your device.
- Diagnostics: standard Apple system logs are written via Apple's unified logging framework and remain on your device unless you choose to share them with us.
2. How Data Is Used
Data is used only to operate core app functionality: showing your position on the map, planning and displaying routes, geocoding addresses you provide, and managing offline regions. Routing happens fully on-device.
3. Data Sharing
We do not sell personal data. The App does not include analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking SDKs. Map tile requests to OpenFreeMap are governed by their own terms.
4. Data Retention
Locally stored data (routes, waypoints, preferences, downloaded regions) remains on your device until you remove it from within the App or uninstall the App.
5. Security
We rely on Apple platform protections, including app sandboxing, to help protect data processed by the app.
6. Children's Privacy
TrackHound is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal data from children.
7. Policy Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top indicates the latest version.
